NO ELEPHANT RACE ON CARD In the old days at Washington Park it was no easy matter to slip by the ever watchful a gate tender unless you had the necessary credentials.- One afternoon a big, fat fellow, weighing in the neighborhood of 259 pounds, attempted to gain entrance by means of a jockey badge. The gate keeper gazed at tho mountain of flesh before him and without , the semblance of a smile took up the badge, remarking as he did: "Boy, I believe you made a mistake. There is no elephant race on the card today."
