ESTERO began slowly and had to race wide, but finished fast and gamely. ARARAT set a great pace and tired after reaching the last eighth. SIR THOMAS KEAN ran well and had no mishaps. Won driving; second and third the same. POMPOUS began somewhat slowly, but, coming with a rush through the last eighth, wore WAY-WASSAMO down in the last seventy yards and won drawing clear. WAYWASSAMO raced into the lead in the stretch and fouled BEDAZZLE in the last eighth, for which he was disqualified after finishing sec-ord. BEDAZZLE raced forwardly and gamely, but began tiring in the last eighth. GORDON SHAW sulked and swerved repeatedly. GLENLIVET had no mishaps. MAMMON tired after going well for the first half.
