MOMENTUM set a fast pace, but came wide on the stretch and just lasted to outstay VANESSA WELLES. The latter raced to the leaders with a rush on the outside and finished fast. BATTY H. rushed into the lead and held sway to the last eighth, but was interfered with when the winner swerved and tired. CAPTAIN BURNS, forced to work his way up on the outside, finished gamely.
