I DISASTROUS FIRE AT GLEN HELEN STUD FARM LEXINGTON, Ky., November 8. Seven thoroughbred weanling colts and a large barn and some forty tons of hay and straw were destroyed by fire of undetermined origin yesterday at John S. Barbees Glen Helen Stud Farm on the Iron Works Pike, seven miles from Lexington. The loss is estimated by Mr. Barbee at 0,000, the only insurance of Which he is aware being ,500 on the barn. The colts were the property of various owners, some of whom may have been protected by insurance. Following is the list of colts destroyed: Chestnut colt, by Belloc Gilt Edge, and chestnut colt, by Belloc Deep Dale, property of James MacManus, New York." Brown colt, by Frizzle Sandscrit, property of H. K. Knapp, New York. Bay colt, by Sweep La Daine, property of Glen Helen Stud. Chestnut colt, by Escoba Star View, property of A. L. Aste, New York. Brown colt, by Torchbearer Josie A., property of A. A. Riley, New York. Bay colt, by Sweep Flying Cinder, property of W. A. Shea, New York. The La Daine and Flying Cinder colts were the most valuable of the young stud. The Flying Cinder colt, considered the best on the farm, was worth at least 0,000. Nine other colts in the barn were saved by three men who. were passing in an automobile and discovered the barn on fire. The men of the farm were at dinner at the time of the conflagration.
