IMPROVED CONDITIONS Attendance and Speculation Show Increase at Dade Park. Abadane First in Feature Race Carnarvon Furnishes Upset Normal in Triumph. HENDERSON, Ky., November 10. Im-I provement in attendance and volume of rau- tuel speculation was the order here this afternoon. The perfect Aveather helped to bring out a larger sized crowd. Included anions ! -the spectators were many of Evansvilles most representative people. The numerous ladies present were particularly noticeable. The racing was again spirited and pleasing, several of the finishes eliciting considerable enthusiasm. The ,000 purse, at three-quarters, was the stellar offering ai d it brought to the post five fairly useful ones, with Abadane, carrying the colors of J. B. McKee, an outstanding favorite and the ultimate Avinner in somewhat hollow style from Brilliant Ray and Tuscola. Auntie May was considered to have an excellent chance, but the running proved the contrary, for she never figured seriously at any stage under an indifferent ride. G. Mayberry, who saddled Abadane, also saddled another winner in his own Grace E., which won the fifth race in runaway style. Like Abadane, she ruled favorite and never gave her supporters much concern. Grayson, under hard urging, landed in second place, j with Frank Boyd, an outsider, heading the others in third place. I E. R. Bradleys Beach Beauty graduated j from the maiden ranks in the opening dash after a spirited drive with Gail Ford. Thur-bers superior riding over Stearn figured prominently in the result. SUCCESS rOIt JOHN 110SH0K. The erratic Carnarvon furnished an upset in the sixth race, in which he ruled a big favorite, but failed dismally and finished far back. The purse fell to John Hoshor from High Gear, with Jacobean in third place. John Hoshors success was due to being ridden close to the inner rail, which enabled him to save much ground in the last eighth. The same tactics on High Gear would have caused a reversal of the order of the finish between the pair. Lieut. Colonel and Mab engaged in a spirited stretch duel in the second race, and it resulted in victory for the former. Crest-wood Boy, an intended good thins, finished in third place. John 13. Maddens colors were carried to success in the third race, when his Soldier II. won from Fighting Cook and Teds Plum. The winner was accorded substantial support, though Fighting Cook ruled a slight favorite over him. The closing dash brought to the post a good band of higher grade of platers and it furnished the best finish of the afternoon, with Normal the winner by a close margin over Eleanor S., with Dimples in third place. Cap Hock, Uncle Velo and Billy Star raced on even terms until reaching the stretch, where the placed trio displaced them and continued a spirited contest until the end. Next Monday has been designated by general manager Bradley Wilson as ladies day. All ladies accompanied by an escort will be admitted free to the grounds as a guest of the association. 11. T. "Watts has secured a five-year contract on F. Robertson, a local boy and cousin to J. Owens. Gates Young, acting resident manager at Latonia, was among the visitors and will stay over for several days to witness the racing here. "William Snyder, another capable assistant to A. B. Dade, did the starting this afternoon. He and Hamilton will alternate as starters during Mr. Dades absence from duly. John Keegan, who had a big hand in perfecting the track here to the high standard it is in, departed for Lexington, Ky.
