Another rich juvenile stake, the Walden, has fallen to Kentucky and Montfort Jones ftirnishe.l the winner in Oui Oui, a daughter of Sir John Johnson Parisian. Once more has a filly led home the field in an important event at this track. Oui Ouis triumph came in a stirring and sensational manner, for she get up in the final stride to defeat General Thatcher by a head, which, in turn, had but a meager advantage over the Greentree Stables Solisa. Bright Tomorrow, racing for the- Idle Hour Stock Farm, was fourth. The Walden was at a mile and scratches mercifully narrowed down the bulky field to fourteen starters to strive for the lioH prize that netted ,400 to the winner. Th field was a fractious one at the post and th start was delayed several minutes by the bad behavior of several of the starters. General Thatcher was responsible for the greatest part of the delay. The field was finally caught in good alignment and dispatched. McAtee, on Cyclop.-, had his mount away in front and he secure I an inner position round the first turn. General Thatcher was hustled right after him. while Bright Tomorrow, Solisa and My Own were forward factors. Pool was caught on the inner rail with Oui Oui and could iivt secure clear passage. Rounding the bend, leading to the short stretch, Cyclops began to falter and Keogh rushed General Thatcher around him and assumed the lead. Solis-i worked her way to the leaders while Oui Oui was closing fast next to the inner rail. The Nevada Stock Farm Stables starter came a trifle wide on the stretch turn and Pool quickly grasped his chance and sent his mount through a narrow opening. Oui Oui thus had the advantage of the other leaders and got her head in front right at the end. Solisa was forced to lose some ground on the stretch turn, which might have cost her the victory. Oui Oui was tendered an ovation that befits the Avinner of an important event in this section as she cantered back to the judges pagoda. The race was run in 1 AQVa, with the fractions as follows : 23 Ys; 47, 1 :13. BIG CROWD PRESENT. Racing conditions at Pimlico this afternoon could hardly be improved upon. Bright, clear skies, with a touch of autumn weather, prevailed and the track was at its best. A great crowd was on hand to witness the running of the card, which was productive of interesting racing. A field of nine maiden two-year-olds were asked to go five and a half furlongs in the opening race of the afternoon and the winner proved to be Mrs. F. Ambrose Clarks Listen Dearie, ridden by Romanclli, in an easy fashion from W. J. Salmons El Dorado, while the Greentree Stables Romping Homo was third. The J. S. Cosden silks were once more prominent in the selling steeplechase, which was over the two-mile course, when Gimme, ridden by C. Mergler, outlasted W. G. Wilsons Briganna in the final drive. Lucky Find took the short end of the purse. Of the nine that faced the starter but four completed the course without mishaps. Gimme went to the front, at the start and held sway throughout. He easily outjumpel his opponents, but was tiring near the end. although he had sufficient left to stall oft Briganna. The latter was taken under restraint in the early running and was easily the best of the others. Lucky Find had but little trouble to hold The Trout safe. Deb-adou was the first to go down, and he was quickly followed by Frank B., Vox Populi II., Overmatch and John Austin. All of the riders escaped serious injury, although badly shaken up. Maiden jockeys performed over the mila and an eighth route in the third race and W. E. Martins North Wales enabled C. Hammond to graduate from the non-winner class when he was home first in a drive from Iz. A. Olivers Huonec and E. E. Mooars Dark Horse. DESPISED OUTSIDER WINS. Kellerman, racing for W. Wennik and ridden by L. Fator, beat out R. L. Gerrys Emotion in a thrilling drive at the end of a milo and a sixteenth dash, with John Paul Jones, from the Xalapa Farm Stable, third. Tha winner was the despised outsider in tho wagering and netted a large return for tho usual investment. Merry Land, a local product, racing for A. H. Morris, graduated from the non-winners ranks in a maiden affair at five and a half furlongs in a nose finish from King Charming, from tho Nevada Stock Farm Stable, Continued on ebjhth paze.
