IRISH RACING STATISTICS Fair Measure of Success Attends Season on Emerald Isle. Major Lodcr Leads List of Winning: Owners, Visile 31. Dawson Is 3Iost Successful Trainer Ayliu Heads Aiders. Taking into consideration the disturbed state of the country and the consequent abandonment of a great many meetings in the provinces, the last Irish season, -which officially terminated November 21, achieved a fair measure of success. Despite difficulties of transit, runners were forthcoming in satisfactory numbers evidence this in itself of the vitality of the sport. It is safe to say that had normal conditions prevailed the Irish turf in 1922 would have surpassed all previous records as regards prosperity. As it was, things turned out much better than might have been expected. If only the warring elements could compose their differences the great national sport of racing and breeding would flourish like the green bay tree. The table of statistics shows that Major Giles Lioder heads the list of winning owners a position in the main due to the achievements of Spike Island, which was sent across from Newmarket to win the Irish Two Thousand Guineas and Irish Derby, while Lord Lonsdale won another Irish classic, the St Leger, by the aid of Royal Lancer. Of tAose who race on a more extensive scale in Ireland Sir Thomas Dixon, J. J. Maher and Captain B. Daly did best, and others well up in the list are P. Cullinan, D. J. Cogan, W. Parrisli and C. P. Kenyon. ILUVSOX LEADS THE TltAIXEltS. Not for the first time by any means Michael Dawson comes out on top among the trainers and P. Behan, J. Hunter, J. J. Parkinson, F. Grundy and R. H. Walker have also well maintained their positions, while Spike Islands successes not alone place P. P. Gilpin high up in the trainers list but bring that colts sire, Spearmint, to the top of the winning sires. Spearmints total, 7,S00, beats the previous best that of Tredennis in 1920 by 1.41.",. That versatile horseman C. Aylin, who is equally at home riding on the flat and over the fences and hurdles, has made a professional record in Ireland by riding seventy winners, the previous best being sixty-five by .Tcseph Canty who also rides under both codes and II. II. Beasley comes a good second with sixty-eight, or one more than Joseph Canty. The leaders in each division are shown below : OWNEltS. "Winnns Ilncca Horses. Won. A int. M:ijor a.
