SENTIMENT NOT ALL DEAD Old Paddy Whack Dies in the Far West and Is Mourned by Host of His Admirers. Word comes from the West of the death of a popular racer, old Taddy Whack. A good, consistent, honest horse was the son of Celt Network, possessing speed of a high order in his younger days. He leaves the following record of his endeavors on the turf: Year. Age. He had been purchased by me from Mr. Hoag and turned out on a farm near San Diego, Cal. While running loose in a paddock he in some way broke his leg just below the shoulder, making it necessary to destroy him. "Paddy Whack had endeared himself to many here in San Diego and he is buried on a sunny slope near the Otay Valley. The news of his death caused much sorrow, especially among the feminine followers of racing, of whom he was a prime favorite. His popularity and the sentiment attached to a thoroughbred may be attested by the numerous times 1 have been asked where he was buried, several expressing their desire to lay a floral tribute on his grave."
