REASON FOR WAILING New Orleans Favorites Continue to Run Like Outsiders Boy From Home Furnishes a Sur ¬ prise in Winning the Feature Race of the Day NEW ORLEANS La January 9 Another difficult card was presented by secretary Joe McLennan for the edification of the Fair Grounds racing patrons and while some in ¬ teresting racing resulted the attacking forces on the layers were again routed as a result of the continuous overthrow of favorites Only one choice succeeded in showing the way home Several of the winners found considerable support but in most instances they were overlooked This was particularly true of Louis A victor in the third race in one of the closest finishes of the after ¬ noon The outstanding race of the afternoon a dash of a mile and seventy yards brought to the post somo fairly good ones with Olynthus and Avispa supported to the ex ¬ clusion of the others in the race but tha winner here turned up in E R Bradleys Boy from Home an outsider Olynthus showing was particularly disappointing and came in part through the bad ride that Meri nice gave him This youngster js in bad form at present and rides in nowhere near the form he showed on New York tracks during the latter part of the metropolitan racing season seasonAvispa Avispa set a fast pace and at one time appeared as if she would score easily but after showing the way until in the last eighth she began tiring badly and succumbed in the last stride to Pluckys rush for second place A betting coup oE no mean size was en ¬ gineered in the initial race with the ordinary Stone Age serving as the medium He came like a rocket through the last eighth after making a slow beginning and won going away An ordinary band of maiden three yearolds started in it with Blue Bird slightly favorite but a dismal failure failureUntried Untried was a supposedly good thing in the second race but the start found her away badly badlyUNTIIIED UNTIIIED BOLTS AT START STARTStarter Starter Snyder made a report to the stew ¬ ards after the race that Untried had bolted into Bedazzle causing both of them to be away badly Glabclla fought it out with Elizabeth Bean and they came to the finish in the above order separated by a head headMom Mom Rapid Day and Hadrian were given the most support with Picnic also coming in for a fair share in the third race The backers of Mom and Rapid Day had thrills when both were fighting it out near the fin ¬ ish but Louis A coming with a sensational rush beat the pair home by an eyelash eyelashGoaler Goaler which in his previous race ran poorly was again made an outstanding favorite in the mile and an eighth race and again were his backers confounded by his poor exhibition for lie raced in last place throughout The winner turned up in Saga mook which scored in cantering style from Attorney and Matinee Idol IdolScourgeman Scourgeman the only winning favorite of the afternoon was making his initial start in a long time and ran a fine race overcame considerable interference and won from Frank W and Gen Cadorna Pictor a starter in the race probably ran his last race for lie fell lame badly badlyThe The final race was won by Leochraes H with My Rosie second and Leo Fisher third thirdThere There were additional arrivals during the day from the East and included Andy Hen Iinger of Cincinnati who will make an in ¬ definite stay stayFor For abuse of badge privileges owner L W Marks has been notified to enter no horses until further notice
