S D RIDDLE CASTOFF WINS Furnishes Big Surprise in Main Race at Oriental Park Unconsldcred and Ncplectcd Brocklesby BrocklesbyTools Tools Them All by Triumphing TriumphingOver Over Tony Ucau HAVANA Cuba January 18 J W Pan gle who races under the name of the Pronto Stable furnished the winner of todays fea ¬ ture at Oriental Park when his maiden four yearold Brocklesby won the fourth race at a mile and a sixteenth Brocklesby which was the extreme outsider in the betting was ridden by G Walls made every post a win ¬ ning one and at the finish staggered in a head in front of Tony Beau which was rid ¬ den by Stutts Stutts held Brocklesby a bit too cheap and delayed making his effort until the last sixteenth When he called on Tony Beau the latter responded but the distance was too short and the leader just lasted long enough Brocklesby set a fast pace and ran like a fair sort of a colt He is a castoff of the Samuel D Riddle stable and was purchased by his present owner at Laurel last fall fallOne One of the large fields that went to the post this afternoon faced the starter in the first a dash of threequarters There were an even dozen got off and War Idol a first time starter of the meeting was made the favorite and won in handsome fashion War Idol made all the pace but in the stretch was forced to do his best to stall off the fast closing Mambi which he beat by a scant length lengthPrudential Prudential which had not started here be ¬ fore but which worked well had the call j over the others in the second and flattered his backers by dashing to the front soon after the start and leading to the final six ¬ teenth where Wild Cat came from behind with a good rush of speed and in a driving finish beat the tiring pacemaker by half a length Wild Cats victory places the W R Coe stable well up on the list of winning stables at this meeting meetingOLD OLD SINNER NARROWLY NARROWLYOld Old Sinner had to be hard ridden to beat Carrie Moore by three parts of a length in the third The winner raced under restraint to the stretch turn where he went to the front and was under pressure all during the last eighth Old Sinner changed owners after the victory having been claimed by E E Major for I00 I00Notime Notime made all the pace in the fifth and beat Win or Quit by a length Young Mc Laughlin squeezed through next to the inside rail with the winner and saved ground for the remainder of the contest contestThere There were more new faces in the grand ¬ stand and Jockey Club veranda Among the New Yorkers viewing the races were Mr and Mrs S E Gitchell Mr and Mrs L A Dalrymplo Percival Mr and Mrs A A Sechel Mr and Mrs Max Rcsenblum George Holt Mr Louis Drummond Mr and Mrs J II Shipley of Ycrk Pa Mr and Mrs L E Ellis and O W Kehm of Dayton Ohio B J Shell of Chicago and J E Riley and James H Schudice of Boston were also at the clubhouse as visitors visitorsW W F Knebelkamp owner of the preten ¬ tious stable at the local track which is being trained by W B Finnegan left Louisville on Wednesday and is due to reach Havana on Friday evening eveningColonel Colonel and Mrs Edward Fletcher of San Diego Cal were included in todays list of clubhouse guests
