RACING IN THE NORTHWEST Washington Thoroughbred Asso ¬ ciation Formed and Tentative Schedule Agreed Upon SEATTLE Wash January IS The Wash ¬ ington Thoroughbred Association with a statewide membership has been organized with temporary headquarters at 601 Lyon Building Seattle Officers of the association for the year 1923 are Walter C Baldwin president Tacoma vicepresident and execu ¬ tive board comprise Walter C Baldwin Ta ¬ coma Alton W Leonard Reginal H Par ¬ sons George E Miller Walter E Galbraith Joseph Gottstein Roscce Drumheller L O Lukan Dr George M Horton and Dr Charles R Castlen of Seattle Thomas S Griffith and Waldo G Paine of Spokane while other officers will be elected who are residents of Vancouver Wash Walla Walla Yakima and other sections of the state stateThe The Washington Thoroughbred Associa ¬ tion will seek legislation for breeding pure ¬ bred and thoroughbred horses assisting com ¬ munity fairs and a limited season of thor ¬ oughbred horse racing under a Washington Stato breeding and racing commission act actEvery Every detail in regard to racing would be under the control of the commission Stakes purees the number and liability of stockholders in racing associations the num ¬ ber of days of racing in each racing center the racing dates officials and all rules and regulations necessary to safeguard the sport vould bo within the scope of the racing com ¬ missions authority authorityTha Tha commission will be petitioned to per ¬ mit of the following number of licensed rac ¬ ing days Scaftle 25 days Tacoma 20 days Vancouver Wash 25 days Spokane 10 days the Washington State Fair G days Spokane Interstate Fair C days Walla Walla Fair C days daysA A 1COO per day license fee will be charged Such fees are to be divided fairly to aid community fairs and to promote the breed ¬ ing of thoroughbred horses in tliis state Fairs of six days duration will be exempted from paying the license fee
