SCION PROVES A BARGAIN Scion winner of the New Zealand Cup last season was originally purchased as a year ¬ ling for 3000 by his owner Mr Riddiford who in the middle of 1922 sent the colt up for sale but no one would go to the reserve of 2500 Since then he has netted over 15 000 in stakes says a writer in the Sydney Referee Scion is by Boniform Lady Jean a bay mare bred by Sir R Waldie Griffith on March 29 1910 by Ian Bettyfield by Araphion that was sold in 1915 for 1050 to go to New Zealand
