G W Western Owner to Race in Mary ¬ land Kentucky and Canada In ¬ stead of Metropolitan Circuit SAN FRANCISCO Cal February 14 George W Vingfield has changed his racing plans for this year and will have his main string in Kentucky and eastern Canada most of the year instead of on the Metropolitan Circuit as last year He has instructed trainer Preston Burch to ship from the Benning track AVashington D C to Maryland for the spring racing at Bowie and Pimlico PimlicoFollowing Following the comparatively short meetings at the Maryland courses the string of the Western breeder will be shipped to Kentucky to take part in the racing at Churchill Downs and Latonia The horses will then be put on the cars for the Canadian invasion invasionGeneral General Thatcher threeyearold son of Sweep and the Polymelus mare Polistena is attracting much attention and it may he he will be one of the outstanding colts of the year Distance and weight did not seem to bother the giant thoroughbred in the late fall races in Maryland He is being given a careful preparation by trainer Burch for the at Preakness at Pimlico and the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs DownsFavorable Favorable reports have been received or the condition of the twoyearolds which make up the majority of the stable George Wingfield has devoted a great deal of study to blood lines and is bound to achieve success Jof high order
