J S COSDEN BUYS MARES Closes Deal With J E Madden for Several WeilBred Matrons All in Foal FoalLEXINGTON LEXINGTON Ky March 3 Acting for J S Cosden the Baltimore oil magnate and turfman Woods Garth came here yesterday from Virginia and today closed a deal with John E Madden for the purchase of Thundercloud eightyearold bay mare by Ogden Tenotomy by Meddler Noreen brown 13 by Ogden Passan by Hamburg she from Fastorella dam of Colin Lady Rookie chestnut eight by Ogden Plain Dorothy by Planudes Iarghetto chiStnut six by Star Shoot Largo by Sempronius Throne chestnut five by Star Shoot Ori ¬ ental Queen by Greenan Norumbega bay nine by Star Shoot Noreen by Ogden OgdenThundercloud Thundercloud Noreen and Lady Rookie are in foal to St Rock the tenyearold sire by Rock Sand St Priscilla dam of Stromboli and Priscillian which Madden bought last year from Major August Bel ¬ mont Larghetto Throne and Norumbega are in foal to Elimator eightyearold son of Sunstar and Marian Hood by Martagon MartagonFour Four of these mares will be sent to A B Hancocks Claiborne Stud to be mated with stallions at that establishment establishmentOne One of the daughters of Star Shoot will be sent to Hancocks Ellerslie Stud in Vir ¬ ginia to be mated with AVrack that being the male line nick that produced Blazes which ran so well for William Garth The other will remain at Hamburg place until after the breeding season and will be mated with one of the Madden stallions Cosden won the Suburban and the Kentucky Derby with Paul Jones and the Hopeful with Dun ¬ lin both of which he bought from Madden
