3 While the pro ¬ gram arranged by racing secretary Martin Nathanson for this Saturday afternoons en ¬ tertainment at Oriental Park was devoid of an outstanding feature it nevertheless pro ¬ vided some excellent sport Five of the six races were at one mile or over and well backed choices won a majority of the con ¬ tests testsThe The best contest of the afternoon came in the final race in which Roseate was awarded a nose decision over Dainty Lady The lat ¬ ter sct the pace from the start and entering the homestretcli appeared to have the race at her mercy However the favorite Roseate was not far away and when Stutts called on her fcr the supreme test sue responded with a great burst of speed that brought her on oven terms with the leader in the last six ¬ teenth From there to the finish the specta ¬ tors were given a real thrill and not until the official placing was announced was it cer ¬ tain just which horse had won wonThe The lirst race furnished a great finish when three of the twelve nonwinners which went to tin post finished noses apart They were Whispering Califa and Dinty Moore in the order named Whispering had a long lead entering the homestretch but tired badly in the last sixteenth and Dinty Moore finishing fastest at the end would have won in a few nioiv strides stridesLotta Lotta Speed made a runaway of the second race She sprinted into a commanding lead rounding the first turn and was rated in front the remainder of the way winning by a length and a half eased up Lady Rachel the favorite was never a serious factor and finished fourth while Black Top and Czardom had a battle royal for second hon ¬ ors the firstnamed outlasting the other by a small margin marginACOSTA ACOSTA UEKKATS DAHNLKY DAHNLKYAcosta Acosta proved an easy winner over the fa ¬ vorite Darnley in the third race Both were outrun in the early stages but at the top of the homestretch Acosta went to the front with a rush and in the final eighth held Darn ley safe The latter went wide most of the way and after closing a big gap in the stretch tired and failed to gain on the win ¬ ner Drapery was third a half length in ad ¬ vance of Watereo which loomed up menac ¬ ingly in the far turn only to tire badly after taking the lead leadThe The conditions in the fourth race a dash of a mile and fifty yards stipulated that the starters be the property of owners who had not won a race at this meeting Natu ¬ rally this brought out an ordinary field and the winner turned up in the lightly weighted threeyearold Newport vhich beat Le Bleuet by a couple of lengths The latter was messed about the entire race by the aged ridor A Finley who was timid going to the first turn and took his mount out of contention contentionKKMX KKMX Ms GOOD HACK HACKThe The clever apprentice jockey O Pernia who has been developed at this meeting had the mount on Felix M in the fifth race and landed him home a length in front of Moor esque Pernia saed his mount to the eighth post and when the pacemaker Bread Line tired sent him to the front witli a rush At the end he was forced to put up a good finish to stall off a bold challenge from Mooresque which finished fast after racing witli the
