ALL All HE PEAIW Ail I Al AT lUnRHIi luUDlLE luUDlLEHeavy Heavy Track Racing Assured for the Opening Day Sufficient Fields of Useful Horses HorsesProvided Provided to Make Interesting InterestingRaces Races and Finishes MOBILE Ala March 19 The popular ty of thoroughbred racing in Mobile has been demonstrated Horsemen and followers of the turf en route North have crowded the city hotels while every stall at the Fair Grounds has been filled for the eleven days racing given here under the auspices of the Business Mens Hating Association of the Gulf city cityMinor Minor improvements have been made at the Fair Grounds The track has been re soiled and banked on the turns recently and new quarters for the racing secretary and this morning have wrought damage to the track and washed the new top dressing down to the inner rail making that part of the track a quagmire A large force of men was put to work in an effort to open up drainage but it is unlikely that a fast track will be here before the end of the week weekThe The class of horses that will furnish the sport for the eleven days of the meeting will ho better than those which took part in the racing here last spring W M Cain who has Harry B Golden Floss Tan Son and other useful performers has probably the largest string here As stable room is at a premium large fields should be seen at the post in the majority of the races racesJoseph Joseph A Murphy will act as the presiding steward and have general supervision of the racing The roster of officials for the meet ¬ ing is John Carey and M N Macfarlan placing judges John Carey clerk of the scales F P Dunn timer M X Macfarlan lacing secretary W M Snyder and Vm Hamilton starters The present arrange ¬ ments are for Snyder to start for the first six days and Hamilton the final five days daysAmong Among the jockeys who have applied for licenses to ride during the meeting are the following 1 Smalhvood R Rice II Gregory K Parrington II Bolton I Gordon J Bell 13 Atkinson R McCrann E T Moore J Smith and W Dunkinson DunkinsonThe The fields during the meeting will be lim ¬ ited to ten at all starting points Racing will begin each day at 230 p m mWeather Weather indications tomorrow are Rain ¬ ing and track heavy
