RICH STEEPLECHASE WON LONDON. Kngland. April 4.— Lord Wool-avingtons Southampton, carrying 171 pounds, won the I,ancashire Steeplechase at Manchester by a margin of three lengths from Maureen Bawn. Keep Cool was third. Among the unplaced horses in the race were Habton. Turkey Buzzard, Vaulx. Forewarned, Conjuror II. and seven others. The winner was at 10 to 1 in the wagering. Be Careful, a fourteen-year-old gelding, won the Irish Grand National from James Pigg and Brandans dory. Be Careful is owned by Mrs. Slacker, former owner of Music Hall, the Liverpool O.rand National winner of 1022. He won by a head, while James Pigg held an advantage of eight lengths over Brandans Glory at the finish. Eleven started. Mrs. Slains Conree. carrying 1P 0 pounds, won the Welsh irand National by a length and a half from Grey Dawn. Jimmu was third. Shaun Spadah was the favorite at 5 to 2. He carried 170 pounds and was ridden by Rees. but could not work his way into the leading trio at the finish, lunt Gun was also unplaced.
