DUETTISTE TO RETURN HOME J. E. Widener Orders His Crack Steeplechaser Shipped to United States After Grand National. LONDON, England. April 18.— Joseph E. Widener has ordered the return of Duettiste. the eleven-year-old son of Kthelbert and Dulcibella, to America and the veteran jumper will sail on the Atlantic Transportation Companys steamship Maine May 5 for New York. Duettiste was a wonderful steeplechaser in the Fnited States before he went to Europe. In 1922 he was pointed for the Grand National, but he met with an injury in the Brook Steeplechase and was forced out of training some weeks before the race. This year he was a prominent factor in early future wagering on the Grand National and he scored several victories during his preparation for the big race, but suddenly his form seemed to go awry. He fell in several starts in succession and for a time it appeared extremely unlikely that he would be sent to the post for the famous Liverpool race. He started in the Grand National, however, but fell early in the running and did not cut much of a figure in the contest. The English experts have consistently contended that the American horse is not of the sturdy build needed for the difficult course at Aintree. It is believed to be the intention of Mr. Widener to race Duettiste in the United States during the summer. * 1
