J. C. FLETCHERS CHEECHAKO Records Best Training Work of Kings Platers at Woodbine — Seagram Horses Arrive. TORONTO, Ont. May S.— The weather was cold and the track fast at Woodbine today. A biting wind chilled the railbirds to the marrow. The best work of the spring training season by any horse was a mile and an eighth by J. C. Fletchers four-year-old Kings Plater Cheechako. With Antiphon and Algonquin as pacemakers, he began at the eighth post and ran the first quarter in 21%, three-eighths in M%, half in 49%, mile in 1 :43% and pulled up mile and an eighth in 1 :58%. While Cheechako had only about M pounds on his back, the gallop was impressive. The Fletcher Plater trailed his pacemakers the first part of it. After going three-quarters he overtook them and went to the front. The Giddings Plater, Honeys Jewel, with Boyal Visitor as a running mate and with jockey Stevens in the saddle, was sent a mile again this morning. He worked in 1 :40%, the first part being quite fast, but appeared to trail off after going three-quarters. The fractional time was 24, 49% and 1:17%. The Seagram horses, which arrived from Waterloo last night, made their first appearance on the track this morning. The older division all looked to be well advanced in their work, despite sickness in the stable during the winter. Parisian Diamond. Golden Sphere. Bulldog Drummond and Brilliant Jester all look exceptionally well. The Kirkfield Stables sprinter James F. OHara turned in a fast three-quarter in 1 :15%. Vennie from the same stable ran three-quarters in 1:18. The Sunnyside Stables pair, Uncle John and Baby Mine, arrived today from Maryland. They are both entered in the Toronto Cup and are ready to race. Other works at Woodbine today were as follows: Attorney Muir. three-eighths in 39% ; Arendal, half in 51% ; Assyrian Queen, three-eighths in 38% ; Mary Jane Baker, mile in 1 :45% : Anaprisa and Uptown, three-eighths in 1 :00 ; War Fox, three-quarters in 1:19; King Trojan, three-eighths in 40; Star Realm, half in 50% ; Atlantida, a two-year-old, three-eighths in SI ; Jean Corey, half in 53% ; Joaquina. three-quarters in 1 :21 ; Yorkist, five-eighths in 1 :04 ; El Jes-mar, three-quarters in 1 :19%.
