LAUREL RACING NEWS J. H. Stotler turned out at "William Jennings farm at Mount Washington the two-year-old Transaction. Pastoral Swain was claimed from the "Winfrey Stable yesterday by Frank Garrett. The horse cost his new owner ,000. The Pastime Stable, has purchased of Sam Louis the plater Bucado. Louis claimed the horse from Max Hirsch after he won yesterday. A. C. Bostwick, accompanied by his trainer, J. AV. Healy, will leave for. Latonia tomorrow. Mr. Bostwick has two candidates in the Kentucky Special, Spot Cash and Shuffle Along. Jockey J. Callahan has . been engaged to ride the unbeaten two-year-old Happy Thoughts in the 0,000 Laurel Stakes, an event for all ages, which will be run Saturday, Oct. 20. St Lawrence, which is being schooled through the field by J. L. Donovan, gives promise of developing into a good steeplechaser. He will likely be seen with the colors up during the Laurel meeting. Dr. Henry J. McCarthy yesterday applied the firing irons to L. T. Bauers Biff Bang. The trouble was in the ankles. Trainer Livingston hopes to have the old campaigner ready some time during the latter part of the Fair Grounds meeting. Tho Laurel management was much elated over the large attendance that witnessed the sport "Wednesday. Newton Bennington, -who, back in 1903. raced that good mare Beldame, which he had under lease from August Belmont, is a daily visitor at Laurel. Mr, Bennington contemplates taking in a few weeks of the sport at New Orleans during the winter and it may be that his colors will be seen there.
