1 : Probable Juvenile Champion of 1923 The champion two-year-olds of 1923. "Which of the many youngsters seen in our racing; is entitled to the juvenile crown? It is a question as yet unanswered, though many now believe that the sensational Sarazen is the best of this years two-yr-ar-olds. Certain it is that the son of High Time Rush Box has made a wonderful record since he entered the picture. "With eight straight victories in as many starts, Sarazen has yet to taste defeat, and judging from the way he has baen running away from his opponents, there seems none able to measure up to his standard. True, he has not met the unbeaten Happy Thoughts, St. James, Wise Counsellor or others of high quality. Nevertheless, his admirers, including many expert judges of the thoroughbred, are equally certain that Sarazen will just as easily triumph over these as he has over those that have already fallen before his prowess. j i SARAZEN. While Sarazen has won more races than any other leading two-year-old of the year, his money earnings fall short of six others, the explanation being that Sarazen has taken part in only three stake races, while his rivals have gathered in the spoils of some of our richest juvenile features. The leading money-winning two-year-old of the year to date is St. James, which regained some of his lost prestige by a smashing victory in the Futurity. St. James total winnings amount to 9,385, with Diogenes second with S,725 and Lord Baltimore II. third with 4,805. With many more valuable juvenile fixtures to be decided before the years racing ends there are sure to be many changes in the list of the thirty leaders, the records of which are now as follows: Horse. redigree.
