BLACK WAND followed the early leaders under slight restraint until in the final eighth, where she closed up gamely on the outside and was going away at the end. FIRST LADY HARDING raced RAMO into defeat and took the lead in the stretch, but tired in the last seventy yards. OUTCROSS began slowly, but saved ground on the turns and closed a big gap into a fast-coming third. RAMO set a good pace, but tired in the stretch. BARION raced well. BLUE STREAK ran poorly. WATER GIRL -slipped through on the inside on the backstretch, but was cut off at the half mile post and was unable to improve her position afterward. CAVEAT EMPTOR was pulled up in the last eighth.
