HORSES AT NEW ORLEANS Several Stables Arrive and Are Quartered at Fair Grounds More Shipments Expected. NEW ORLEANS. La., Oct. 31. Things are beginning to hum at the Fair Grounds. The stables of Jack Phillips, C. S. Wilson and Otto Wendel arrived yesterday and from now on there will be a steady stream of thoroughbreds. Familiar faces are beginning to be noticed on the streets. In a letter received from J. L. Dempsey at the Fair Grounds yesterday he stated that Mose Goldblatt would ship twelve horses from Latonia this week and that twelve, the property of Harry Payne Whitney, would be shipped from Now York to join the Goldblatt horses here. The letter also contained the information that Jefferson Livingston would send his entire string to the Fair Grounds and that his trainer, Al Kirby, expected to ave Firebrand ready to race at the Fair Grounds. The Montfort Jones stable will come in the personal charge of Kay Spence, the stable trainer, and will contain the pick of this large establishment. J. S. Wards horses, will be in charge of Roscoe Goose, the former good jockey, and will contain among others Indian Trail and Donges. The first Dempsey special will leave over the Lbuisvilleand Nashville from Louisville on November 18, arriving on the morning of the 10th. The seven-horse cars will carry exclusively the horses owned by E. R. Bradley, Montfort Jones, J. Livingston, J. S. Ward and J. H. Louchheim. The train .will carry two sleepers, a diner and baggage car.
