When the racing season of 1923 was ushered in there were many who predicted that it would be a year of unrivaled prosperity on tho American turf and there were many I favorable indications that gallant old Exterminator would surpass the mighty Man o War as the greatest money winner, but none foresaw that a three-year-old of no unusual fame as a two-year-old would startle the entire racing world by winning more money in one year than the great majority of the greatest horses in the world ever won during their entire racing careers.
