SIRE JOHN 0 GAUNT IS DEAD SPECIAL CABLEGRAM. LONDON, England, Jan. S.Tohn oGaunt, the old English stallion, was destroyed Monday in his twenty-third year. He was owned by George Thursby, who rode him in the Derby when trained by Drake. Never an entirely sound horse, he broke down in training and the fact of his being afflicted with ring bone prevented his being sold to a syndicate of English breeders for 5100,000. His best son was Swynford, the champion English stallion of 1923.
