FIRST SIGNS OF SPRING Horses at Louisville Tracks Start Preliminary Training Additional Horses Expected. LOUISVILLE, Ky., Feb. 29. With the first signs of spring the thoroughbreds at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park have begun jogging on the main courses. Superintendent Tom Young has been getting the tjacks at both courses in condition during the past two days. With the close of the race meeting at the Fair Grounds many stables from the Crescent City will come to Churchill Downs and Douglas Park. Kay Spence, who is resting at Hot Springs, has notified Frank Gailor to bring the horses of the Audley Stock Farm Stable to Louisville after the meeting at the Fair Grounds. He has reserved stable reservations and the older horses will be augmented by several youngsters from the Jones Brothers Breeding Farm in Virginia. John Walters, who trains the horses of; George M. Hendrie, was at the Downs Sunday making arrangements for shipping the horses of the Hendrie Stable to the Downs. J. B. "Rome" Respess and Lloyd Gentry came down from Erlanger Tuesday and made arrangements to ship the Respess Stable to Douglas Park in the next few days. Dr. C. Cann, veterinarian, who has been at New Orleans all winter, has notified friends here that he will leave New Orleans for Louisville and will be located at Douglas Park.
