Fletchers Big Band of Thoroughbreds in Good Health. 4 Grand Looking Stallion Anmer Head of Finely Appointed Stud Knights Differ Also There and a Fine Nnmber of Brood Marcs. The thoroughbred stock at the Downsview Stud, situated a few miles north of Toronto and owned by J. C. Fletcher, has wintered exceptionally well. The farm is an extensive one and is increasing yearly. All the latest improvements for the proper care and training of the high-class thoroughbreds have been installed and there is every indication of success for this popular young breeders institution. The list is headed by that grand-looking sire Anmer, which was presented to the Canadian breeding industry by His Majesty King George. This young stallion is possessed of all the qualities that are required for high-class breeding and is by a brother to the famous pair of English racers, Diamond Jubilee and Persimmon, and with a strong flow of the Gallinule blood mingled. Practically all of Anmers get have been winners. The stallion Knights Differ is also standing ; at this farm and from present appearances this young son of Knight of the Thistle Indifference, is destined to make a successful sire, that pair of smart fillies, Fluffy Ruffles and Atlantido, which raced so prominently on the Canadian circuit last year, and both in the. Kings Plate this year, being daughters. They are this sires first product. FOALS DOING WELL. A splendid band of matrons are well taken care of, and all have the conformation and quality that go to produce good stock. Me-rode, Frou Frou, Margery, Pampinea, Hidden Crown and Aprisa are possessed of blood lines from such famous sires as Trap Rock, Meddler, Disguise, Charles OMalley and Golden Maxim. Good stock should come from the mingling of this strain. -There are four beautiful foals at their mothers side and all are doing well. A chestnut filly by Anmer Aprisa ; bay colt, by Anmer Ruth Maxim ; bay filly, by Anmer Hidden Crown, and a black colt, by Cattagat Highland Mary. Six yearlings are all good-looking youngsters far above the average: Anmcrode, b. c, by Anmer Meroilc, by St. Siraonian II. Bruce, b. c, by Knights Differ Margery, by Kins James. Just in Fun, b. f, by McNeill Aprisa, by Kismet. Davenport, cli. c, by Anmer Pampinea, by Marta Santa. Donsview,. oil. c, by Anmer Hidden Crown, by Disguise: Singlet, b. f, by Knights Differ Single Maid, by Singleton. The quality of two-year-olds that will be shown at the Woodbine track by Mr. Fletcher this coming spring will pass inspection. Siberian, a bay colt by Anmer Merode, and a half-brother to the stake winners Marauder and Stoto, is a splendid type of horse, large of bone, with plenty of muscle and well mannered. Highlander, a sparkling black colt by Anmer Highland Mary, and her first born, is Continued on twelfth page. DOWNSVIEW FARM TRAINING Continued from first page. another grand upstanding youngster with all the conformation required. He should develop into a high-class colt. What Is It, a good-looking bay colt, by Anmer or Knights Differ Hidden Crown, has all the appearance of possessing speed. Short legged in front, deep through the chest, with lots of leg and strength behind, this youngster should be a frequent winner. Night Off, a bay colt, by Knights Differ Frou Frou, by Meddler, is a well turned youngster, a little on the small side, but good enough. Fairbank, ch. f, by Anmer Rock On, by Trap Rock, is a racy looking miss and well mannered. She is from the dam of Uptown, a winner last year. Hoi-Polloi, ch. f, by Anmer Ruth Maxim, by Golden Maxim, is the first foal for this . matron and is a good-looking youngster, clean cut, a little long of limb, but plenty of barrel, nice head and shoulders ; well mannered. The Downsview owner will have a strong1 hand in the Plate. He has the large entry , of five to choose from, how many and which will face the starter race day, time alone will tell. MEXICAN PETE DEVELOPS. If appearances count for anything Mexican Pete, the son of Peter Quince Fine Art, is a sure pop. This colt has developed into a beautiful three-year-old Avith all the qualifications of a good horse. The pair of good" fillies that performed so well last year Atlantida and Fluffy Ruffles are both a fine pair of fillies. Atlantida particularly has grown wonderfully and, if i she can carry her speed that she is noted for, it will be a case of come and catch me. : Upsandowns, a brown gelding by Luke Mc- " Luke Hidden Crown, is another good-looking Plate eligible, but a doubtful starter. Chiquita, a good-looking bay filly by Luke McLuke Merode, and a full sister to Stoto, is also an entry for the Kings Guineas. She is a good-looker and should be heard from. The older division of the stable Algonquin, Cheechako and Uptown all look well. The first named never looked better. This son of : Galatine Chinka, is possessed of a world of i speed. He was unsexed last fall and is an entirely changed horse. There is a possibility that Cheechako may bo turned over to some well-known trainer of jumpers. Three smart apprentice riders are connected , with the stable headed by the promising youngster, Jimmy McTigue. Little Jack Logan and Phil Martin are the others, and according to trainer John Coleman, they are all good boya.
