KINGS PLATE ENTRIES Forty-six Nominations Received for Canadas Famous Race. Remarkable Increase for Stanley Produce Stakes of 1927, Total of 384 Being Named. - TORONTO, Ont., March 25. The directors of the Ontario Jockey Club, and supporters of racing in Canada generally have reason to be pleased with the list of nominations to the stakes to be decided at Woodbins Park, which closed Friday, March 14. The Kings Plate to win this most famous of Canadas races is the ambition of every racing man in Ontario has forty-six entries, thirty-eight of which are owned by different nominators. The race, for the sixty-fifth running, has an unusually open appearance and promises much interest between now and the opening day, May 17. The distance of the race has been reduced from a mile and a quarter to a mile and an eighth. For the first time it was decided to close the steeplechase stakes earlier than has been the custom. For the Woodbine Steeplechase of 0,000 added the wonderful entry of seventy lias been received. In this list will be found almost all the prominent crosscountry owners and horses in North America. The Aintree Steeplechase has only one less, numbering sixty-nine. The Breeders Stake, with ,000 added, and the Maple -Leaf Stakes, ,000 added, both confined to Canadian-bred horses, have forty-nine and forty-two entries respectively. This is the largest number of nominations in the history of these events. STANLEY mODUCE STAKES. The Stanley Produce Stakes, with 0,000 added, to be run in 3927, attracted the huge entry of 3S4. The nominators to this stake are headed by H. R. H. The Prince of Wales, who enters two mares from the E. P. Ranch, Flood, by Sunder, and Miss Milligan, uy Lochryan. Both mares are in foal to His Majestys horse Will Somers, leased by the Prince of Wales, and standing for the benefit of owners of thoroughbred mares for 1924, in Calgary. Of this very large entry, no less than 117 mares are owned by Canadians, 267 being the property of American breeders of bloodstock, and include some of the best sportsmen on the American turf.
