, HAVANAS WINTER MEETING Total of 37,700 Distributed During 102 Days of Racing. - Florida Stable Largest Winner Among tlie Owners, Right On Time the Horses and Callahan the Jockeys. The Havana Jockey Club distributed the large sum of 37,700 during the long winter meeting at Oriental Park, which began on Thanksgiving Day, November 29, 1923, and continued to March 23, 1924. During that period there were 659 "races run and the daily average distribution amounted to ,291. Of the owners participating in tlie racing four won in excess of 0,000 each, while twelve won over ,000 each. The Florida Stable tops the list with 4,400 to its credit ; J. A. Parson is second with 2,800 ; E. L. Fitzgerald with 1,800, and W. R. Coe fourth with 1,300. A. S. Eastman with ,800 ; Caimito Stable with ,950 ; E. F. Whitney with ,800, and E. E. Major with ,000 are other large winners. Right On Time was the largest winner among the horses, winning six races and ,250. Blue Hill won five and ,775, while John Morrill accounted for six races and ,750. Other good winners were Lucy Kate, British Liner, End Man, Moorfield, Hullo, Cuba Encanto, Ancestress and Halu. There was an interesting struggle between the two veterans J. Callahan and A. Pickens for the saddle honors of the meeting. It was nip and tuck between the two for the greater part of the racing, Callahan finally winning out with fifty-six winning mounts, while Pickens had fifty-one. O. Pernia and J. Dawson were two youngsters that did exceptionally well, the pair being tied for third place, each with forty-six winners to his credit. J. A. Parson was the most successful of the trainers with twenty-six winners to his credit, while F. Walker is second with twenty-two and K. K. Karrick third Avith eighteen.
