SANFORD AT NEWMARKET Sees His Two Grand National Candidates in Workout Conjuror n. Still the Favorite. t SPECIAL CABLEGRAM. LONDON, England, March 25. Stephen Sanford visited Newmarket yesterday to see his two Grand National candidates, Sergeant Murphy and Drifter, work a mile over six fences. Both horses jumped well, but Sergeant Murphy, which won the big Aintree race last year, does not look to be the horse he was in 1923. Both of the Sanford jumpers are just galloping now and it appears that Blackwell is satisfied with their condition. A record attendance at the Grand National, which will be run at Liverpool Friday, is confidently expected. Over twenty thousand reservations have been made on the special trains which will be run from London for the race. The Liverpool hotels are already filled and thousands of applications for rooms have been refused. Conjuror II. is still a strong favorite. Silvo is second choice ; Shaun Spadah third ; Sergeant Murphy, Eureka II., Taffytus, Music Hall and Chin Chin next in demand in the order named.
