CLEVELAND, Ohio, May 15— The Ohio State Jockey Club will inaugurate the spring meeting at Maple Heights Saturday and from all indications it will be the most successful conducted here since this track was built. There are more and better horses available for the racing this year than formerly, with new additions expected from Kentucky from time to time. There are so many hcrses .it Louisville that many owners have divided up their strings and will race some of them here. The ,000 Ohio State Derby has attracted fifty-eight nominations, including Mrs. R. M. Hoots Black Gold, which, from all accounts, may rule favorite for the Kentucky Derby after his sensational victory in the Derby Trial Monday. 10. R Bradley has named Bob Tail and Erilliant Cast, the latter said to be a star in the making, which was heavily backed in the future books for the Kentucky Derby. Benjamin Block has entered his Peter Maloney, C. B. Head has nominated Altawood, Pete Coyne contributing both King Garin II. and Bourbon Boy. o, all in all, it is a splendid entry list received for the Ohio State Derby, which will be run on Saturday, May 24.
