Won driving: second and t!;ird tho same. BILL WINFREY, close up earlier than usual, worked his way up on the inside and. coming fast through the stretch, passed WILBUR C. WHITEHEAD and was drawing clear at the end. MASTER BILLY began slowly and, being forced la race on the outside throughout, lo-t ground on the stretch turn, but finished with a rush. WILBUR C. WHITEHEAD slowed high speed in fast pacemaking, and drew away into a long lead, but was headed on the stretch turn, then came again. KUMONTN began slowly and finished with a rush on the inside. DESPAIR, away quickly, set a good pace from soon after the start anil began to s .verve out through the stretch and forced TANGERINE out with him, but finished gamely and won because best ridden. TANGERINE began slowly, but moved up on tie outside of the winner and finished extremely wide, but would have won with a competent rider. A claim of foul was not allowed. tlLYNTHUS raced well throughout and cutgamed APOLOGY at the end. The latter ran a good race, but tired ia the final strides.
