; I | | : | , 1 j BLACK GOLD TO CLEVELAND Kentucky Derby Winner to Be Starter in Ohio State Derby at Maple Heights Saturday. LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 20. — John T. Ireland, steward at Maple Heights, has been here for several days trying to interest owners to ship three-year-olds colts to engage in the ,000 Ohio State Derby, which will be decided next Saturday. Late this afternoon he announced that he had succeeded in securing Hlack Gold, winner of the Golden Jubilee Derby, as a prospective starter Saturday. He is now arranging for the transfer of Mrs. Hoots star to be shipped to the track near Cleveland. There is also prospect that Harned Brothers will ship one of their three-year-olds, and Hob Tail might carry the colors of E. R. Bradley. The presence of Black Cold in the field of starters in the Ohio Stale Derby will afford opportunity to race enthusiasts of Cleveland and other Ohio cities to view the hero, who received the plaudits of nearly 100,000 turf fans congregated here from all parts of the country last Saturday.
