-6 NEXT SATURDAYS FEATURE Weights Announced for 0,000 Added Grainger Memorial Handicap at the Downs. LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 20.— The Grainger Memorial Handicap at one mile and a quarter with an added value of 0,000, to be run next Saturday, is the next important stake fixture to engage the attention of horsemen and race goers at Churchill Downs. This stake, which up to this year was known as the Kentucky Handicap, was instituted at Douglas Park in 1913, and after the Kentucky Jockey Club was organized it was decided to perpetuate it and make it an annual spring fixture at Churchill Downs. When the list of stakes was compiled last winter Col. Winn changed the title to its present one to keep alive the memory of Charles F. Grainger, who, up to the time of his death, was a leading figure in controlling the destinies of Churchill Downs. This years running attracted 85 nominations, including Chilhowee, Beau Butler and Altawood, which proved such strong factors in the running of last Saturdays Kentucky I j Derby. Black Gold, the winner, was not j named. In all likelihood, a field worthy of j I the best traditions of the stake will start, and present indications point to at least a dozen of the best horses in training going to the barrier in the race Saturday. Grey Lag, Zev, : Mad Hatter and Enchantment are among the more prominent of the eastern eligibles and all are asked to carry high imposts.
