Pharos was unfortunate in the latter race. In the long distance event Sierra Leon ■ was never in a real contending position and ultimately finished third. Wh"Ti the field had gone two miles Sierra Leone made an effort to catch the lead rs. He was incapable of overhauling them. Kwanrion. carrying !il pounds, won easily by one and one-half lengthe from Boddara CM pounds. There were thirteen runners; including A. K. Macombero Forseti. He was backed, but finished sixth. He gave tin- impression that he was unsuited by tie- twists and turns of this curious two and one-quarter miles contest. Her running in the Queens Prise at Kemptou on Faster Monday was a good public trial, for rhe was third, close behind the deadheaters, Bvander and Scapino. Boddara had no chance with Kwannon. a hardy, rather small mare, sired by Kwang Su. a half-brother to lilllihuj, Kwanrion was bred by her owner, her dam being Osaka, which never raced, She also was bred by Mr. Singer. Her lirst three foals, hallow. Kama Kara and Juniso are all good stayers. Kwannon is her fourth produce. OSAKAS BIIKIilUM;. Osaka is by Isinglass, from Sakura. by Cherry Tree, from Santa Linda. The last named was a sister to Svelte, which bred an Oaks winner in Cherins ya t,a!so by Cherry Tree. Kwannon won her fi-st two starts as a two-year-old but was not successful in 192X Tin- most noteworthy feature of Fpsom was the accomplishment of young W. .Ic- Lachlan, who rods the winners of the Great .Metropolitan and the City and Suburban wins. Four years afterward the late Willie" Lane forever associated with Pretty Polly, won the races on Flba and Robert le Diablo, the sire of Wrack. This was in Lo I, so McLachktn successes came at an interval of twenty years.
