DONOGHUES DERBY MOUNT Star English Jockey to Ride J. B. Joels Defiance in Big Race — Tom Pinch Still Favorite. SPKCT All CABLEGRAM. RON PON, Eng., May 29.— Stephen Dono-Khue will ride J. B. Joels Defiance in the Epsom Derby next Wednesday, it was definitely announced today. Green Fire, another three-year-old in the Joel stable, has beaten Defiance in trials repeatedly, but unfortunately he was withdrawn from the Derby in March. There was much interest in the trial of Rord Astors candidates today. Alex Taylor sent St. Germans, Hurstwood, Bright Knight and three other horses a mile and a half. The three named finished locked together and their showing was considered highly satisfactory. Lord Woolavingtons Tom Pinch continues to hold his position as favorite in the future books. He is quoted at 13 to 2. Bright Knight is at 17 to 2, Diophon at 9 to 1. San-sovino at 10 to 1. Benjamin Irishs Dawson ity at 100 to 8. St. Germans at 100 to 6 and King George V.s Knigbt of the Garter, on which the American jockey, George Archibald, will have the mount, is 20 to 1. Hurstwood and Obliterate are at 25 to 1.
