The Chicago Business Mens Racing Association serves notice to the country at large tomorrow by the running of the 5,000 added Chicago Special of its permancy in the racing field. The race is an eleventh-hour conception, one intended to satisfy horsemen throughout the country, that Chicago has been placed on the racing map on a solid foundation and likewise the management at Hawthorne designed the race Avith a view to giving Chicagoans . an opportunity to witness some of the best that was in racing. The management hoped that there would be enough co-operation of the owners to send their best here. Owners did respond generously with their entries, but were somewhat amiss in sending their charges here to oontcst for the big prize. The short period in which the race was put on and its early running after the entries closed, coupled with rich engagements that most cf the horses had to fill in close proximity Ho the Chicago Special running, prevented many from coming, but, at that, the race gives patrons of the sport in these parts an opportunity to witness what should be a battle royal between some of the stellar luminaries in the racing firmament. In Giblon, Chacclet and Princess Doreen the race has a trio formidable for the best to compete with. Giblon has been here, Chacolet and Princess Doreen were sent specially for the race. Hopeless, a stable companion to Chacolet, is also entered. GIBLONS CIIAXCES GOOD. Princess Doreen, by her sterling performances in the Kentucky and Latonia Oaks and more recently in the Alabama Stakes at Saratoga, clearly earned the title as ranking with the best of her age and sex. Chacolet had earned her title to rank with the elect by her numerous successes OAer the stars East and West If this pair of mares Avere the only starters in the race, it would haAe been a splendid racing feature, but Giblon, Avhom many regard as the possible best three-year-old in the country, must be reckoned Avitli and he will command A-ast attention. If the track should be muddy or slow, The Runt, a faAorite in these parts, Avil command considerable respect. The distance, a mile and. three sixteenths, is a bit farther than ho is supposed to like but it takes a good horse to take his measure on a bad track and he might prove successful. Belphrizonia and Red Wingfield, both re-resenting Mrs. A. Swenke, have victories to their credit in their last starts and are regarded as having a splendid chance for the prize. Considerable foreign as well as local interest is being manifested in the race and indications are that the Hawthorne plant Avill be totally inadequate to accommodate the immense throng that will Avitness the Chicago Special, Avith the Lexington Hotel Handicap of ,500 added, serving as a secondary feature. Requests for reservations in the clubhouse and for boxes haAe been steady during tho past week. The requests haAe come from many noted persons Avho took a keen interest in the racing at Washington Park and Avho are now lending their approAal to the-HaAV-thorne management in their effort toplace the sport on a permanent and high clas3 basis. .
