GOLDLANDS worked his way to the front on the outside of the early leaders and held his lead gamely in the final drive. WAVECREST raced up to the leaders with a rush when beginning the far turn and came extremely wide into the stretch, but was wearing the winner down slowly in the final strides. TRANSFORMER was outrun, but finished fast. BENORION set the early pace, but tired. BUTTON BRIGHT raced into the lead and tired. SANDPILE set the early pace and quit. CLARA BELL always was outrun. TELESCOPE lost much ground on the first turn, but was rushed into the lead and set the pace, but tired when challenged. CORDELIER quit after racing into the lead on the backstrctch. PELF ran well all the way.
