FLAG LIEUTENANT set the early pace and after being passed came fast on the inside through the stretch, and taking the lead again drew away easily near the end. Won easily; second and third driving. NEPTUNE came fast after entering the stretch and, after passing BANKER BROWN- when an eighth out, held the race safe at the end. BLACK DEER came wide on the turn for home, finished fast and outgamed ROMA in the final drive. ROMA finished resolutely and ran a good race. BANKER BROWN set a fast early pace, but tired in the last eighth. BILL BLACKWELL could never get up, but finished well. COPYRIGHT took the lead at once and raced SPRING VALE into defeat and, under, a well ridden finish, held BIDDLEDEE safe in the final drive. BIDDLEDEE closed a big gap from a slow beginning and was wearing the winner down at the finish. ROUGH AND READY made a resolute challenge in the stretch, but finished in close quarters next to the inner rail. LIEUTENANT PERKINS tired after showing early speed. EGE set a great pace from the start and stayed gamely in the final drive. SUN BRAE raced up into a contending position and finished gamely, but was on the outside of the leaders all through the stretch. GAY BOY II. was forced wide on the turn for home and finished fast. PEST dropped far back in the first half mile, but came fast and gamely through the last quarter. EL ASTRO tired after showing the most speed for seven-eighths. ATTILIA tired in the final drive.
