SOME FAST YEARLINGS MONTREAL, Que., Sept. 16. That clover young trainer, J. P. Smith, was an arrival from Saratoga this morning. He is here to sign a jockey to ride for the W. S. Kilmer stable at the Maryland fall meetings. Before leaving Saratoga he sent a pair of yearlings that he purchased for the New York Sidney Stager an eighth over the deep Oklahoma track in :12 flat They were the chestnut colt by Flittergold Mint Drop and the brown filly by The Finn Pinfeather. This was one of the most impressive moves shown by any of the youngsters quartered here. Max Hirsch, who has twenty yearlings at Saratoga, was up from New York to try them out. Smith returned to Saratoga tonight to superintend the shipment of the Kilmer horses to Havre de Grace. Donaghee and the horses he is handling for W. Harding, of Washington, will be included in the Maryland shipment.
