EASY FOR FAIR ROWENA Takes Measure of Buckhorn II. in Feature at Brooklyn Park Tidal Wave Destroyed. CLEVELAND, Ohio, Oct 3. Mrs. J. L. Wades Fair Rowena was returned winner of the .fifth race, feature of todays program at Brooklyn Park, when she easily defeated Buckhorn II., which divided favoritism with her. The winner, under a good ride, was never far from the pace and taking command when Blackolia, the early pacemaker, tired drew away easily. Buckhorn II. finished second with Grandest third. Today was ladies day and the fair sex took advantage of the summerlike weather and turned out in large numbers. Short priced horses accounted for the majority of the races. The Polk entry ran first and second in the opening dash for two-year-olds, Flitterbelle winning and Timely Thoughts finishing second, while Flying Lula was third. Jockey Roberts, who had the mount on Fair Rowena, made it a double for the day, he having previously ridden Flitterbelle in the opener. While being unloaded from the car yesterday Tidal Wave,. the property, of O. A. Razon, broke through the landing and cut the tendons of her leg and it was found necessary to destroy her. Jockey W. Martin was an arrival yesterday, having motored from Omaha. Tho distance of the first and second races originally carded as five-eighths, were changed to four and a half furlongs, there being a large hole in the five furlongs chute which was repaired in time for the fourth race.
