"For the international character of the race and. the world-wide interest it has commanded, we are indebted to the broad vision, sound sportsmanship and generous qualities of our distinguished guest, Mr. Wertheimer, who has made the contest possible. "I speak for my associates of the Kentucky Jockey Club, as well as for myself. I con-, gratulate you, Mrs. Vanderbilt upon the notable victory won by your gallant horse.
