LATONIA TURF NOTES L-ATONIA, Ky., Oct. 11. August Belmont and Christopher J. Fitz Gerald will go to Lexington, Ky., tonight to inspect the Belmont yearlings at the Nursery Farm. T. W. Hemingway did not overlook an opportunity to acquire a cheap racer in the midst of the excitement, for he claimed Colonel Wagner in the opening race at a cost of ,900. The Havas Agency, of Europe, contemporary of the Associated Press, had two Parisian correspondents on hand to report Epinards performance against his American opponents. They cabled extensively of the afternoons proceedings. Gifford A. Cochran, who was one of the arrivals for the race from New York, confirmed the report that trainer W. B. Duke, now in France, would have charge of the Cochran horses next year and would begin his Kentucky racing operations at Churchill Downs. "He also said that he puchased the stallion Under Fire because he thought him suited to mate with the band of good brood mares now at the Cochran establishment.
