YOUNGSTOWN OPENS TODAY Everything Ready for a Banner Fall Meeting Track in Fine Condition. YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio, Oct 14. Everything is in readiness for the opening of the autumn meeting of the Southern Park Recreation Association here tomorrow. Upwards of four hundred head of horses are already quartered at the track and more are expected to arrive this afternoon. It is a certain thing that there will not be -a shortage of good riding material as all the jockeys, who rode at the recent Akron meeting are on hand and a few now riding at other points have announced their intention of coming here. The inaugural purse, feature of tomorrows program, brings together a small but select field, while the majority of the other races are fulled to capacity, and if the delightful autumn weather continues, some fine racing is in store for the patrons. Manager Eyster .has had a staff of workmen busy working on the track proper all week and as a result it is now in lightning fast condition and in addition many improvements have been made throughout the grounds. Andrew G. Leonard, who will serve as presiding steward, was an arrival from Lexington, Ky., today, while the other officials, including "William Harris, starter, and S. S. Bender, racing secretary, are already on the grounds. The first race will go to the post promptly at 2:30 p. m.
