NOTED SIRES TRAGIC END Prince Palatine, a Wonderful Racer, Burned to Death in Fire at Xalapa Farm. "Word was received from Kentucky this morning that Prince Palatine, which stood at the head of Edward F. Sims Xalapa Farm breeding establishment at Paris, Kentucky, was cremated in a fire which destroyed the stallion barn last night Prince Palatine was imported from France by Mr. Sims and his addition to the ranks of American stallions was looked upon with great favor by American breeders. Foaled in 1908, a bay son of Persimmon from Lady Lightfoot by Isinglass, he raced with great distinction and has to his credit such important events as the Imperial Produce Plate, St Leger, Gordon Stakes, the Ascot Gold Cup, Eclipse Stakes, Doncaster Cup, Jockey Club Stakes, the Coronation Cup and others. His winning moneys totaled over S1,000. He was then sold to the French government for 00,-000. According to advices here he was fully insured.
