CONFIRMS REPORT OF SALE R. A. Leigh Arrives at Latonia and Tells of Plans of Jefferson Parks New Owners. LATONIA, Ky., Oct. 1C. R. A. Leigh was an arrival today from Baltimore and de-1 parted in the evening for New Orleans. He confirmed the report that the Jefferson Park track controlling interest had been transferred to himself, Messrs. Robert S. Eddy, Jr., James Lcmarie and Robert Maestri. Ho will, on arrival in the Crescent City, have a conference with his associates with regard to decsive plans for the coming meeting at the Shrewsbury course beginning on Thanksgiving Day. So far only two officials, J. B. Campbell and Joseph McLennan, have been decided on, but the full rcster of persons that will have supervision of the sport will be made known shortly. It is intended to secure the best officials that can be procured. It is also the intention to add materially before the opening to the stabling facilities. . New and comodious barns, are to be erected with dispatch to accommodate fully the big number of owners that are expected to race in New Orleans during the winter. Stable application blanks were left here by Mr. Leigh and owners arc requested to send r their applications at once to the new Jefferson Park track offices situated in suite 509 Commercial-Canal Bank Building in New Orleans. "It is our effort to give a high-class race meeting in every respect," said Mr. Leigh, "and we will strive hard to attract the best horses that race in the winter months to the Crescent City. Our 517,500 Louisiana Derby Avon this year by Black Gold will serve as a magnet for the better grade of three-year-olds and should fit in well with the ambitious plans of the Fair Grounds management to attract star racers to their course. I am informed that the Fair Grounds has in view a stake of 5,000 value for three-year-olds and over and it affords a good : three-year-old splendid opportunity for a money-earning start to engage in the New Orleans racing during the coming winter." Mr. Leigh will return later to Louisville to do some missionary work in behalf of the Jefferson Park track and also assist in the shipment of several special trains that will be sent direct to Jefferson Park immediately after the close of the Churchill Downs meeting.
