CLOSE FINISHES IN ORDER Exciting and Spirited Racing Witnessed at Brooklyn Park Jockeys Escape Injury. CLEVELAND. Ohio, Oct. 16. A scries of claiming races made up the card at Brooklyn Park this afternoon, but the racing, was interesting and productive of close and exciting finishes. The tighest fit came in the fifth, in which E. E. Majors Mark Denunzio barely lasted to earn a head verdict over Brian Kent. Sister Sue was a bang-up third. Frank Sumpter, Matinee Idol and Grandest all came from behind in the stretch to earn brackets by narrow margins. Joe Tag and Katherine Rankin showed the way throughout in their respective races and won by more comfortable margins. J. G. Bickel, outpaced for three-eighths, eventually scored a handy victory in the curtain raiser. For striking jockey Pernia with his whip at the finish of the fifth race jockey H. Paden was suspended until October 25. Jockey Banks was set down for two days for rough riding in the opening dash. Jockeys A. McDonald and J. Gerrity both escaped with a shaking up when Heavy Artillery fell in tho fourth race. Amelia S. fell over him. J. Charles, J. B. McGinn, G. F. Hum and A. W. Craft departed today for Beulah Park, Columbus, with their stables. A special train of sixteen cars will leave for the same point at the close here Saturday.
