Hope of West in Latonia Championship Stakes CH1LHOWEE. After Chilhowees disappointing showing in the third International Special, the Latonia Derby winner of this year, lost many friends, who are willing to admit that the colt, on the strength of that performance, had little chance to win the forthcoming Latonia Championship Stakes to be run Saturday. Then, three days after his failure in tho International, the same Chilhowee startled the racing world by running a mile and an eighth in the fastest time ever recorded for the distance, a new American and, probably worlds record, of 1 :48, winning by four lengths, eased up. Back again to grace, Chilhowee immediately regained the old friends and made new admirers, who are already proclaiming him the winner of the Latonia Championship Stakes. Saturday will tell the story. In the meantime, here is the hope of thand west in the big race.
