CALL HALT TO GARTH SALE LAUREL, Md., Oct. 22. William Garth interrupted the sale of yearlings of the estate of his son Lewis when the fifth of the youngsters was being paraded before the bidders. Stepping behind Dr. H. J. McCarthy, auctioneer of the Maryland Thoroughbred Sales Company, he instructed the official to call off the sale. The low prices obtained for the first four was the cause of the order. Following are the four sold, with buyers and prices: Chestnut filly, by Bcrrilldon Stalwart Helen; A. S. Woodliffe COO Chestnut filly, by Berrilldon Chrybdis; M. Brady $ 1,100 Chestnut gelding, by Bcrrilldon Starry Belle: S. M. Henderson 700 Bay gelding, by Bcrrilldon The Busybody; M. Brady C00 Twelve remained unsold.
