THE PRAIRIE RACING BODY Organization to Control Sport in v Western Provinces Is i Being Formed. "WINNIPEG, Man., Nov. 10. Formation of an organization, probably to be known as the Prairie Racing Association, which will take over racing in the three prairie provinces and seek to place it tinder control of government appointed commissions, will be sought at a special meeting to be held in Winnipeg. W. R. Allen, president of the Manitoba Jockey Club, will act as chairman. Managers of the Western Canadian class "A" fairs, which include Calgary, Edmonton, Re-gina, Saskatoon and Brandon; the deputy ministers of agriculture of the three provinces, and representatives of local racing organizations will be in attendance. While the announced aim of the organization is that of having those interested in the horse breeding industry join forces in order to more effectively promote the development of the thoroughbred, it is also known that the new association will seek powers to control the racing situation in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. In the event of such an association being formed, it will be immediately asked to sanction a new set of racing rules, which are a revision and consolidation of rules of the Canadian and American racing associations particularly applicable to Western Canada. Promoters cf the sport are also going to advocate that all the racing programs be placed under control of racing commissions to be established and appointed by the various provinces, with probably some means of centralized administration governing the operations of the association throughout the three provinces.
